Our Story

Founded in 2005, Within Reach Learning Center was created to provide students with the personalized academic support they need to succeed in school. We have helped students throughout South Orange County strengthen their reading, writing, and math skills, build confidence, catch up when they are struggling, and challenge themselves when they are ready to move ahead.

About the Owner & Instructor, Janelle Caldwell

As an Orange County native and USC graduate, I spent years working with other learning programs before opening Within Reach. I wanted to create something different, a place where children could
receive high-quality academic instruction while also enjoying the learning process.

“Be who you needed when you were younger.” This quote is framed at Within Reach
because it captures exactly why I created this center. As a child, I struggled in school.
No one recognized what was happening, and despite trying tutoring and other
learning programs, I never received the support I needed to get back on track.
The programs felt boring, dark, and discouraging. Learning felt like a punishment.
I created Within Reach to be the opposite.

Our center is bright, welcoming, and engaging, but fun is never the goal by itself.
Every activity is intentionally designed to reinforce academic skills and help students learn. I love watching students gain confidence, discover that they are capable, and become excited about subjects they once found difficult.

As the owner and instructor, I personally teach every student. This allows me to truly know each child, monitor their progress, and personalize instruction based on their individual needs. I also believe in partnering with parents, schools, and teachers whenever it can help a student succeed.

My goal is simple: to help every child become a confident, capable learner who believes in their ability to succeed.

In my spare time, I run a Kindness Project. I aim to spread good news daily and be a place for all things happy! We do many community events throughout the year to help spread kindness and teach kids the importance of paying it forward.
